Hi Gary- sorry we didn’t get to talk the other night - it was such an overwhelming scene- wish we could have played one together. Oh yeah- why did your father shoot you (if you don’t mind me asking but it’s pretty much the obvious question here- lots of us might have grabbed the dough but I’ve never heard of anyone getting shot by Dad)….🙏🎶🙏

Hey Frank! —yeah, that night was a full-blown sensory overload. Would’ve been great to play something together, hopefully we will soon.

And yep, apparently there’s a crater-sized hole in my story—you’re not the only one who came away wondering why my father shot at me. I guess it’s the obvious question, but also the unanswerable one. A few people told me the tale stuck with them precisely because that part just hung in the air.

My best answer? He was angry. I was a teenager. I probably lit the match on a house already soaked in gasoline.

Domestic violence doesn’t really operate on logic—it’s not chess. It’s not even checkers. It just happens, and when it does, it’s never cool, never clean.

That said, I’ll read it over again. If I feel like the full picture wants out, maybe I’ll write it. Until then, “I guess I pissed him off” is the closest thing to a truth I’ve got.
